TEAM PROFILE

ANTHONY HINES

Project Design and Documentation Lead Registered Architect

Lead architect on EEKOS's specialist disability accommodation and compact housing portfolio, and design development and documentation lead across selected residential and commercial projects.

Background

Anthony is an award-winning architect with over 15 years of experience across high-end residential, specialist disability accommodation and innovative housing models. He has led design and delivery across boutique residential and hospitality projects in Perth and regional WA, with work distinguished by attention to detail, environmental performance and an ability to navigate complex regulatory and community contexts.

Documentation and approvals expertise

Anthony's particular strength sits in the design development and documentation stages of a project — the phase where a concept design is developed into a fully resolved, approvable and buildable package. This includes preparation of documentation for issue to local government for Development Approval (DA) and Certified Design Compliance (CDC), and to building surveyors for Building Permit (BP) and Certificate of Construction Compliance (CCC) issue.

This is the stage of a project where most cost and program risk is locked in or avoided. A well-resolved documentation package reduces approval delays, reduces RFIs from builders during construction, and reduces variations on site. Anthony's experience across SDA, residential and commercial project types means he brings a practical view of what councils and surveyors look for at each approval stage, and how to document a project so it moves through approvals efficiently.

Current focus

Anthony currently leads EEKOS's work in three specific areas:

  • Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) — projects ranging from 6 to 15-apartment models that support diverse living needs while meeting SDA's rigorous design standards. The portfolio addresses a national shortage of high-amenity, accessible housing for people with disability.

  • Compact and tiny housing models — ongoing design research and project work into scalable, sustainable micro-living housing prototypes responding to Australia's housing affordability and supply challenge.

  • Mary Street Residence, Highgate — design development and documentation package for this high-end residential project.

Experience across the project lifecycle

Anthony's experience spans concept planning, stakeholder engagement, authority approvals, detailed documentation and contract administration. This allows him to manage project complexity while keeping design integrity intact — particularly important on SDA and compact housing projects, where regulatory compliance and tight feasibility constraints sit alongside ambitious design intent.
