The lodge is its own typology; it is residentail, civic and public at the same time. The new Lodge is a place that weaves together opposing strands; it's private family sanctuary away from public scrutiny, an active workplace, and a welcoming and educative place for visitors. This concept provides a place of comfort, safety and privact for the Prime Minister, and introducesa gallery element to invite the public to become part of the story of place. Embracing our desire to connect authentically with elements of our natrual and culturally diverse landscape the Lodge enables us to refelt on what being an "Australian" means to us.
