The Historic Heart of Perth project initiated by Adrian Fini aims to create a new vitality for the eastern end of Perth’s CBD.

Our work for stage 1 of this project has provided the opportunity to design a ‘family’ of planters which will be installed throughout the eastern end of the Perth CBD in October 2017 to coincide with Perth Heritage Week. Stage 2 will look at ways of  activating and revitalising some of the eastern CBD’s forgotten laneways, building on our previous work and research.

The planters themselves bring together a number of initiatives which include;

a. Incorporating plant selections by Sabrina Hahn reflecting the Wildflower Capital Initiative developed by Sharni Howe.

b. The bespoke planters and bench seats designed specifically for the Historic Heart project, are constructed of robust, low-maintenance, raw materials to suit their urban context. They will be fabricated by reSPOKE in East Perth.

c. The planters and benches will become canvases for local artists, further contributing to the vibrancy of the area. The artists work is being managed by Margaret Moore.

The eastern end of the CBD has a rich, complex and diverse history that we will celebrate through the various initiatives of the project, and will offer a rich local experience of place to the ever increasing number of local residents of the area, as well as visitors staying in the many new hotel rooms being planned for and completed in the area.
