The vision for this concept is to use building typology once associated with this train station, the white, timber-slat fence, to weave around and link a number of pocket-parks, resting moments and unique 'pop-up' commercial offerings.

The concept study area is located along the southern edge of the Train station; a segment of area including decommissioned train platform, and stretching south to a main road. In the east and west directoin the concept area strectches out to capture the heritage listed timber pedestrian bridge, and the two pedestrian crossings either side of the main platfom extents.

This space is intended as a pedestrian zone, with limited access for cars. It can be isolated at various times to allow for community events and markets, and at the heart of this concept, providing a space that nurtures the social, cultural or commercial expression of the community. With its prominence to the major tranport links and train line, there is a great opportunity to make this a highly programmed, highly visible space that puts the town on show and provides a unique new gateway for the town centre.
